SELMA RELEASE NOTES – 18th September 2025

We’ve been working hard to enhance your experience and improve the reliability of our platform. Here’s what’s new in this release.

✅ System Improvements & Bug Fixes

Parent/Child Component Deletion Confirmation Restored

A popup alert has been reintroduced when deleting a parent enrolment component. Users are now prompted to confirm deletion of only the parent component, or include child components in the deletion.

NZQA Qual Check – ‘Create New Batch’ Fixed

Corrected an issue with the NZQA Qual Check report that was preventing the creation of a new batch even after marking the previous batch as processed.

Now the processed flag correctly updates on the backend when a batch is marked complete. Users can immediately proceed to create new batches without encountering false blockages.

Canvas Grade Import – Performance Optimization

Improved a perceived performance issue with Canvas grade imports by moving the process to background task. Users will experience faster UI responsiveness while imports continue seamlessly in the background.

Course Classification Data Alignment

Ran a bulk update script to align nz_course_classification field formatting to decimal type, ensuring compatibility with DXP expectations.
This resolves cases where valid values were not displaying due to type mismatch.

Students Bulk Import – Configurable Status (Provisional vs Ready)

Enhanced the student bulk import functionality:

  • A new configuration flag allows students to be created via bulk importer with status “Ready”.
  • When this configuration is deactivated, students are created via bulk importer with default “Provisional” status.
  • This setting must be enabled by the SELMA team.
  • Streamlines workflows for institutions that prefer active status upon import.
