Grids are used often within SELMA and provides a functional, practical way of displaying large batches of information. Below is an example of the Curriculum Grid (Curriculum > Manage Curriculum) and a breakdown of its navigational capabilities –
Search
“Search” is the fastest way to find specific records and will produce results that match your criteria the closest – for e.g. enter a programme title. Quick search boxes can be used even when the user is not in “edit” mode.
Advanced Search
The advanced search is hidden and will appear if you click on the arrow next to “Search Curriculum”.
The advanced search allows you to enter multiple criteria and select the search types (e.g. Equals, Contains, is bigger than etc. ). The grid will reduce to all items matching your search. Click the arrow next to “Search Curriculum” to hide the advanced search, or click “Clear Search” to reset it completely.
Some of the search fields do not allow you to select a search type, but contain a drop-down menu with relevant options.
Views, Pages and Counts
On top of the grid, an indicator will show you how many rows are contained in your grid. This number will reduce when you search and therefore filter out certain rows.
At the bottom right, the numbers allow you to skip through pages if the search results return a large amount of relevant entries:
On top, the “Show Entries” area allows you to switch between how many entries you want to see per page.
The Column Visibility drop down list allow you to add more columns to the grid (pre-defined additional columns) and therefore see more information at once.
Exports
Once you have searched, filtered and chosen columns, you can export your selection conveniently into an exportable file like Excel or CSV.
Links
You can access the details of any item that shows up in the list by clicking on the item hyperlink (any blue font in the list will bring you to the item):
If you have not found what you are looking for it is likely that you are yet to “Add Programme” or “Add Component”.
